How to turn on a console

PS3:

The PS3 cost about £250 at launch and came in the box was the console with a controller , Kettle lead and HDMI cable.

Insert the power cable into the back of the PS3, making sure its not loose, then plug the plug into an empty socket and turn it on, this will make a red light appear.

Plug one end of the HDMI, the thin headed cable into the back of the PS3 again making sure it is in properly, then plug the other into a tv screen.

Push the ps3 logo on the front of the PS3 to to boot it, this is the power button, and if everything is plugged in then the light should go green meaning that the console is on.
Insert the last cable into the front of the console, this is the controller charger, plug the other end into the controller and press the ps3 button, this will turn the controller on, shown by the lights on the top of the controller, when this is all done, insert a game into the front disc slot and play.

If inserting a game does not work, go to the game screen, and select the disk this will start thye game, if an update is required, hook up the internet (found in the system section) and then find the auto update, using this will do any updates to the console, and will allow you to play online.


Xbox 360:

The Xbox 360 cost about £200 at launch, and came in the box was the console, a controller, the power cable and the HD AV component cable.

Like with the ps3, plug in the power cable to the back of the console, a ring of lights will flash red.

Plugging the wide flat headed cable end into the back of the console, then the other cables are plugged into the tv, ether by scart or colour coordinated component cables into the back of the tv

Push the power button on the front, this will turn the console on, plug in the controller and press the logo on the controller, making an xbox live account will allow you to go online.

put the disk you want into the console by pressing the disk drive button, once the disk is in, the game will play.


PS2: 

Plug the power cable into the back of console, it is the socket with the two circular hole, a little light will go red.

pressing this button will turn the light green. Plug the other cable into the only other hole in the back. The other component cables go into the corresponding coloured hole, this will give you the game display

Press the disk tray button to open it, insert the disk, close the tray and the game will load,

Plug in a controller and you can play
